This subject focuses on the following structural components of a residential dwelling: foundations, floors, walls, and roof structures. Students learn to apply knowledge of structures to inspections that focus on system performance, safety concerns and compliance with good construction practices.

Upon successful completion of this subject, the student will be able to:
	Inspect the following to identify type, material, condition, safety concerns
	and other issues: foundations, floor structures, walls and other vertical support
	structures, and roof and ceiling structures
	Identify the common problems that apply to each structural component
	named, as well as the cause and implication of each problem
	Describe the inspection procedures involved with each component
	Define and use proper terminology related to residential structures.
